A watch inspired by aviation

The Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic Chronograph will be remembered as a unique watch. The subtle grey colour of the sunray-effect dial makes it stand out pleasantly from other black and white "aviator" watches. In particular, the size and proportions of the elements on the dial make the watch extraordinary. The 12 o'clock position is particularly elegantly solved. For pilot watches, a triangle with two dots is usual at this position. Alpina uses the company logo instead. This detail emphasises the character of the watch as an instrument for pilots, but at the same time lends it originality and as an individuality.

The Bicompax Chronograph

The Arabic numerals of the Alpina Startimer Pilot Heritage Automatic Chronograph are very slim and pronounced. The SuperLumiNova coating makes the dial easily readable even in the dark. The dial is surrounded by a raised chapter ring with a printed minute track. The hour markers at the poles of the dial extend from the raised chapter ring to the grey surface. They are twice as high as the Arabic markers, and the resulting depth effect is impressive. As a Bicompax chronograph, the totalisers are located on the dial at three o'clock and nine o'clock. The running seconds are at nine o'clock, and the 30-minute totaliser is at three o'clock. Gottlieb Hausern founded the Swiss watch manufacturer Alpina in 1883. High-quality, extremely precise watches are still the company's trademark today. To this day, each movement is assembled by hand, in the company's own manufactory, by a team of highly qualified watchmakers.
