Audemars Piguet Royal Oak

The Le Brassus company is located in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. The company was founded in 1881, jointly by Jules-Louis Audemars and his friend Edward-Auguste Piguet. Initially, they developed pocket watches, of which the "Grande Complication" won a medal at the World's Fair in Paris as early as 1889. In 1891, they produced the first wristwatch with minute repeater. After the heirs took over the business following the death of the company's founders, they also devoted themselves to the development and production of high-quality wristwatches. Today, the company is a force to be reckoned with in the watch market and is appreciated by watch enthusiasts and collectors alike. Audemars Piguet's great successes include the Royal Oak - now a timepiece with cult status.

1972 was the birth of the Royal Oak by Audemars Piguet

Designer Gérald Genta developed this selfwinding watch, which caused a sensation on the market at the time. Made of stainless steel - rather than gold - the octagonal watch was extremely flat and stood out for its unusual mix of satin and polished surfaces. Critics gave the watch little chance, especially since it was priced in the high-end segment. But the Royal Oak from Audemars Piguet was convincing all along the line. Over the years, the waterproof sports watch developed into a true classic that not only inspired prominent brand ambassadors. The company has now been nurturing its "flagship" for almost four decades and has consistently developed it further. Today, the Royal Oak collection includes models ranging from purist selfwinding watches to ultra-sporty chronographs made of carbon.

Lionel Messi represents Audemars Piguet

For his title as top scorer in the Spanish League, the record-breaking soccer player received a Royal Oak as a gift from Audemars Piguet. Since then, he has been a self-confessed lover of these luxury watches and a brand ambassador for the company. To honor his achievements, Audemars Piguet developed the Royal Oak Lionel Messi Special Edition. For this purpose, some characteristic features of the classic watch were changed. In this Royal Oak, the case is two millimeters wider, the dial is made of tantalum and instead of a stainless steel bracelet, crocodile leather was used here.

Luxury watches for water sports, outdoor, business and leisure

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Automatic and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph with their design are among the eye-catchers among luxury timepieces. While the Royal Oak was still a rarity at the time in its version as a steel watch, it quickly convinced that it had what it takes to become a true classic instead of many gold watches. Its success proves Audemars Piguet right. The octagonal bezel, which is held to the case with prominent screws, is striking. The dial features a fine waffle pattern and the stick-shaped indices perfectly match the respective case color. At three o'clock, there is a date window. Today, the Royal Oak from Audemars Piguet is available in several versions. From the classic steel to the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar to the Royal Oak Tourbillon variant. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon, however, already plays in the top price league. It is surpassed by the Royal Oak Grande Complication, the exclusive model for the upper class. The Royal Oak watches from Audemars Piguet are available with a bracelet in metal, crocodile leather or rubber and have been captivating avowed watch lovers for many years.
