Breitling

If you were to rate watches according to their typical national qualities, then the Breitling luxury watch would probably be the one with the most Swiss content in it. Every detail on it is made in the country and, of course, so is the watch itself. Breitling is just as meticulous when it comes to certification. When buying Breitling luxury watches on the internet, there is no need to fear any risk: Since 1999, the traditional house has had all its timepieces tested, approved and certified by the COSC for accuracy and reliability as chronometers.

Chronicle of Breitling luxury watches: Striving for the sky and at home in the deepest depths

As with many premium watch brands represented around the world today, it all starts with in a small watchmaker's workshop. In 1884, 24-year-old Léon Breitling, son of German-born parents, founded his company in Saint-Imier in the Bernese Jura region - coinciding with the development of Otto Lilienthal's "Normalsegelapparat", the first airplane to go into series production and to have (at least) 9 customers. Breitling's plans were ambitious from the start: he wanted to develop exclusive precision instruments for specialized sectors in industry, research, sports, military and science. As early as 1892, Breitling moves to larger premises in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the watchmaking capital of Switzerland. His time is marked by the awakening passion for rapid speed and sporting competition. Stopwatches, however, are still controlled by the winding crown. But Léon Breitling will revolutionize short-time measurement. Specializing in chronographs generates the first "chronograph bracelet" with chronograph hand and 30-minute counter in 1915, the first independent chronograph pusher in 1923, and a second one in 1934 that finally catapulted timekeeping into the modern era with the reset option to 0. Breitling now carries over 40 different chronograph models in its portfolio, and to this day its successful model continues to lead the way for every modern chronograph.

Titan of the deep: Breitling Superocean 44

The latest generation of Breitling: 2000 meters of depth cannot harm it, even in the deepest blackness of the oceans, its dynamic dial with its slanted dial appliqués and balanced play of colors against a black background shows the times most reliably. Pressure differences inside and outside the 44-mm gold and steel case are cushioned by a safety valve. With a 40-hour power reserve, screw-down crown, cambered sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides, and unidirectional rotating bezel with latch, the Superocean series is a star underwater and on land. The "Breitling made to fit" caters to individual wishes.

Up, up, and away – Breitling takes off!

Even before Breitling advanced to become a producer and supplier to the Royal Air Force in 1936, its passion for on-board watches and military aircraft instruments ignited. But now the time is ripe: the Breitling Chronomat from 1942 becomes the official timepiece of the US Army Air Force. Today, over 30 civilian airlines worldwide place their trust in it. And from the presentation of the Breitling Navitimer in 1952 at the latest, the company's reputation as the specialist for pilot's watches is established. And beyond that: on May 24, 1962, the Breitling Cosmonaute circles the earth once with astronaut Scott Carpenter in the Aurora space capsule. In 1969, in a collaboration - kept top secret - with Hamilton-Büren and Heuer-Leonidas, the first self-winding chronograph is created. A triumph. A groundbreaking creation consisting of a chronograph and an automatic movement called "Chronomatic" is greeted with enthusiasm at simultaneous presentations in New York, Hong Kong, Beirut and Geneva. Also in the Breitling models Co-Pilot Automatic, Chronomat Automatic and Navitimer. Automatically tick the clockworks Calibre 11, 12, 14, 15. The whirlwind of the quartz crisis, which swept over the entire watch industry, also shook the foundations of the Breitling manufacture. In 1984 - now already under the company name Breitling Montres and with the new company head Ernest Schneider - the Chronomat contributes significantly to the revival of the chronograph. In 1995, the Breitling Emergency, a multifunctional chronograph with an emergency transmitter, marks a historic moment in the development of the pilot's watch. Its signals can be located on the 121.5 MHz frequency valid in air traffic. With the development of the Montbrillant, Breitling honors the historic flight of the Wright brothers on December 17, 1903, which is considered the initial spark of aviation.

An exceedingly strong character - the Breitling ego

The winged initial B of the Breitling logos visualizes the company's self-image as a preferred supplier of military and civil aviation just as strikingly as the unmistakable Breitling watch design. A claim that takes shape in the Breitling Jet Team, the largest civilian aerobatic team in Europe. The Breitling World Cup, launched jointly with the International Air Transport Association, is also a tribute to aviation. At the Breitling Academy, candidates who meet the high entry requirements undergo a basic pilot course. Breitling continues to focus on spectacular campaigns. With the "Breitling Orbiter," Brian Jones and Bertrand Piccard circumnavigate the globe in a hot-air balloon. From take-off on March 1, 1999 in Switzerland and landing on March 21, 1999 in Egypt without any stopovers! The watch titan likes to flex his muscles: Breitling also sponsors the world's last Super Constellation still certified for passenger flights. And the "Breitling Fighters" flying squadron, which it founded, recreates authentic combat situations at international flying events with military aircraft legends such as Mustang, Spitfire, Kittyhawk, Corsair, Yakoview, Messerschmitt. You can hardly show your passion for aeronautics in a more offensive way. Not only for aviators and divers, Breitling is synonymous with maximum technical mastery and outstanding design. Breitling connects extreme and elite athletes, screen greats, car racers, astronauts and car makers with watch aficionados who have the highest regard for exceptional quality in luxury watches. By the way, pilots are said to make up a rather marginal group of buyers, accounting for 8% of Breitling's appearance. However, the image of audacity and pioneering spirit remains attached to Breitling and is transmitted to the wearers.

Breitling & Bentley – British elegance and Swiss pomposity

For its Continental GT model, released in 2002, exclusive carmaker Bentley relied for the first time on the support of a watch manufacturer - but not just any watch manufacturer. It was Breitling, of course, that put its stamp on the technical on-board instrumentation of Bentley's most powerful model to date. The "Breitling for Bentley" chronographs in gold, steel or titanium that emerged from this collaboration breathe perfection, nobility, beauty and attention to detail. Refined lifestyle under the sign of the winged B!
