Breitling - tradition paired with innovation
The Breitling company was founded in 1884 in Saint-Imier (Switzerland). The founder was Léon Breitling. Today the company headquarters is located in Grenchen (Switzerland). The company is specialized in the production of chronographs. Early on, watches with stop and reset functions were developed. Since the 1940s, Breitling has been offering chronographs with special functions for aviation. They are able to calculate climb and sink rates, average consumption and fuel consumption. The slide rule is operated by a knurled bezel. The main customers were the English and American armed forces. In civil aviation, Breitling watches with navimeters were part of every pilot's equipment. In 1995 a watch with an emergency transmitter was developed. It was called Emergency. In 1958 Breitling presented a diver's watch called Superocean. In 2002 the company developed a chronometer with diving depths up to 3000 meters.
