A waterproof version of the Calibre de Cartier
At first glance, the Calibre de Cartier Diver collection looks exactly like the normal Calibre de Cartier. It has the same round shape, the same dial with the large Roman number XII at the top and the other Roman numerals slowly decreasing towards the bottom and then disappearing. The disappearance has nothing to do with water resistance. It is probably due to the second, smaller dial for the second hand, which in both models is inserted between the six o'clock position and the middle and leaves no space for the numbers.
Plastic instead of leather
But there is one big difference: the Calibre de Cartier Diver collection does not include any leather bracelets. Of course, there are different types of bracelets, but they are either made of metal or, which is very unusual for Cartier, plastic. The reason is obvious, of course. Even with the best quality and care, the leather would soon be damaged by the water. A plastic bracelet, on the other hand, will survive many dives and still look as good as before. In fact, the otherwise so cheap and base material on the Calibre de Cartier Diver looks really classy and elegant. If the watchmaker of kings is forced to use ordinary plastic, he does not lose his style.
