Design Solist: Tank Manufactur Cartier
The square case base continues with the dial, which has a geometrically angular structure. While the outer edge reproduces the Roman numerals, the line indices of the second radiate in the interior. On another level, the square calendar window opens at 3 o'clock. The counter pole is the round counter of the small second at 6 o'clock. Together with the finely guilloché surface and thin enamel coating, the result is a 3-D look. The silver-plated or blue Flinqué dial, depending on the version, is covered by sapphire crystal. The sword hands are made of rhodium-plated or blued steel to match the dial colour. The crown, adorned with faceted spinel, is a striking detail. The actual work is carried out by a mechanical manufacture movement calibre 1904 with automatic winding and 48-hour power reserve, mounted under a transparent sapphire crystal back.
French Haute Couture for Stars & Starlets
The Cartier Tank MC line for men comprises 4 models in stainless steel and 18 carat pink gold. One of them is a pink gold Tank MC skeleton, hand-wound 9619. The bridges of its 138-part numbered movement are arranged in Roman numerals. At 28,800 vibrations per hour, the power reserve is around 3 days.
The tank already shone on the wrist of royal and artistic stars. Designed by Louis Cartier in 1916, it was first presented in 1917. The stylistic idea of massively worked lugs for the seamless wristband contour on the case is borrowed from an English battle tank. A wristwatch that has been repeatedly reissued for over 100 years is undoubtedly of the highest quality.
