Clearly distinct and yet discreet
Simple straight hands in the same colour of the dial stand out clearly against the background by their shape and structure, without imposing themselves on the viewer. Combined with the hour markers designed in the same way, this makes the Girard Perregaux Laureato 34mm easy to read at a quick glance, without diminishing its elegance. Only at the twelve o'clock position, instead of the straight line, the letters GP for Girard Perregaux are found. They form the logo of the more than 200-year-old renowned Swiss watch manufacturer. Underneath, in an inconspicuous colour, is the inscription "Girard-Perregaux 1791", the year in which the company was founded. The model name "Laureato" is placed above the six o'clock mark and on the ring, on which the minute markings are shown, is the indication "Swiss Made", made in Switzerland.
One of the oldest watch manufacturers in the world
With a history dating back to 1791, Girard Perregaux is one of the oldest watchmakers still in existence, not only in Switzerland but throughout the world. However, the company only began to bear its current proud name in 1865 when the owner Constantin Othenin Girard renamed it in honour of the family of his wife Marie Perregaux. Since then, Girard Perregaux has been based in La Chaux-de-Fonds in French-speaking Switzerland, where the Girard Perregaux Laureato 34mm watches are also manufactured.
