The history of the watch manufacturer Mido
The Mido company looks back on a history of more than a hundred years. Mido was founded in 1918 under the name Schaeren & Cie in Switzerland. Today, the watch manufacturer has its headquarters in LeLocle in the Swiss Jura mountains. The name Mido comes from Spanish and means something like "I measure". The Mido Multifort, which was developed in 1934, was the first watch in the world to combine the following four characteristics in one watch: automatic winding, anti-magnetic, shockproof and waterproof.
According to the company, it focuses on timeless designs and does not try to follow fashion trends. Mido watches are sold by 2700 official dealers in 70 countries worldwide. Today, the Mido brand belongs to the Swatch Group, the world market leader in watchmaking. In 2018 the brand celebrated its 100th anniversary. Today, as then, Mido has the claim to be at the forefront of technological innovation in this price segment.
