METAS, the forward-looking certification procedure
Swiss brand manufacturer Omega can proudly claim to have produced and marketed the world's first Master Chronometer. At a press conference convened in 2014, the company and the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) presented a new certification procedure for watches and, in this context, the new Constellation Globemaster collection. In addition to the everyday wearing conditions in various situations, the perfect functioning of the models was also tested under the influence of disturbing magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss. This revolutionary test procedure sets new standards in the watch industry. Only watches that pass this test may subsequently call themselves Master Chronometer (e.g. reference 130.33.39.21.03.001).
The design and properties
In terms of appearance, the makers were inspired by the first Constellation models. The renowned design of the dial from 1952 was largely retained and makes the brand watch unmistakable. The characteristic ribbed bezel with its rounded edge is also unmistakable. The material used here is tungsten carbide. Thanks to the luminous indices on the dial and the luminous hands, the time can be easily read even in poor visibility conditions.
