Whether on the red carpet, in films and on television or in the social media: celebrities like to put themselves in the limelight and show not only what they can do, but also what they have and, above all, what they wear. While most fans and spectators focus first and foremost on the luxurious dress, the smart suit or the extravagant hairstyle, the gaze of watch lovers almost automatically wanders to the wrist of the celebrities.
And rightly so: the stars love their watches and will continue to show off exciting models in 2021. Not infrequently, these are watches that put every designer dress in the shade – at least in the eyes of a connoisseur. In films and TV shows as well as in private snapshots, actors show off their watches. Things get really high-profile with John Travolta and Breitling watches: the legendary actor is a Breitling brand ambassador and likes to wear his Breitling Navitimer 01, for example.
Bradley Cooper, of “Hangover” and “A Star is Born” fame, is similarly committed to pushing his long-standing collaboration with IWC – the brand that Cate Blanchett also endorses.
And film stars Daniel Craig, George Clooney and Nicole Kidman are also among the watches brand ambassadors from film and television: All three actors represent the world-famous Omega brand.
What watches do the stars of the sports world wear?
In tennis, in football, among runners and in racing: watches are very popular with the stars of the sporting world, and here too we find brand ambassadors who enthusiastically promote first-class chronometers. Usain Bolt, whose Olympic best sprint performance is unforgettable, teamed up with Hublot back in 2010 and was honoured by “his” brand in 2016 with two special models dedicated to him (Ceramic Usain Bolt and Yellow Gold Usain Bolt), just in time for the Olympic Games.
Steffi Graf, tennis legend and 22-time Grand Slam winner, has been the face of Longines for years, and football star David Beckham’s tattooed wrists adorn watches by Tudor.
And yes, golf fans can easily find watch inspiration too: English pro on the golf course Tommy Fleetwood is one of the prominent supporters of the Swiss watch brand TAG Heuer and shows up with the TAG Heuer Connected model, among others – in the Golfer Edition, of course.
Celebrities from the music industry rely on these watches
Both musicians and models are among the top role models when it comes to the hottest watches in 2021. Anyone who has followed Tudor’s BornToDare campaign will know, for example, that none other than Lady Gaga herself is the face of the collection. The US singer, songwriter and producer Pharrell Williams, who has a soft spot for luxury watches, even developed his own model with the Richard Mille label: the RM-52-05 Tourbillon Pharrell Williams reflects the world-famous musical multi-talent’s fascination with the vastness of space and is anything but “08/15”.

Being present on Instagram is an absolute must for most stars. They use the social medium to provide their followers with pictures and short videos, gain new fans and also advertise watches that they particularly like. A posting from 2021 has a double portion of timepieces: Bastian Schweinsteiger (IWC, Portugieser Tourbillon) and his wife Ana Ivanovic (Rolex, Rolex Daytona in stainless steel) are sitting together in a restaurant, although at least in this photo it is not food that is presented, but the watches on the table. In private pictures published online of actor Elyas M’Barek, who shone for example in “Fack ju Göhte”, we discover the IWC Mark XVIII – no wonder, after all M’Barek is brand ambassador of the renowned label.
