Rising prices have made life somewhat more difficult for watch collectors in recent years. This is due, among other things, to the reduced availability of models and the increased demand. This isn't limited to sports steel models. But even though these and the more elegant models are increasing in value and price, that's no reason for pessimism. In this article, we present some alternatives to the Rolex Datejust 41 that offer compelling arguments, not just in terms of price.

1. Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra

This Omega model, which can easily compete with the Rolex in terms of quality, should definitely be included on this list. With this watch, Omega has put together a complete package that is second to none: water resistance to 150 meters, a 60-hour power reserve, and the trump card: a Metas-certified Co-Axial movement that is in no way inferior to the Rolex and can also withstand magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss. But the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra also doesn't skimp on design.

The sapphire crystal case back offers a stylish glimpse into the workings of the automatic movement. The crowning glory is the dial, which is aesthetically inspired by the deck planks of yachts. In the sunburst versions, the horizontal lines create stunning light effects, something you won't find on the more understated Rolex. For watch enthusiasts, the Aqua Terra is a true highlight with its value for money. This all-rounder from Omega is available for around €4,500.

2. Omega Globemaster

Our next candidate also comes from Omega. If you were already impressed by the fluted white gold bezel on the Rolex Datejust, you'll be very pleased with this model. The Globemaster, with its tastefully fluted bezel, is certainly reminiscent of its Rolex counterpart. This lesser-known watch from the Constellation collection is probably the closest in design to the Datejust of all the watches in this article. While the similarity is undeniable, a few details make it unique and worth considering. Both the case and bracelet of the Globemaster are completely satin-finished. Unlike the Rolex, the fluted bezel is not made of white gold, but of scratch-resistant hard metal. While the Globemaster's design is somewhat more understated than the Rolex, its elegant design, with its scratch-resistant surfaces, is highly suitable for everyday wear. In addition to the date window at 6 o'clock and water resistance to 100 meters, it also boasts technical advantages such as the certified Metas movement, anti-magnetic properties, and an open case back that also looks great. You can get the Omega Globemaster starting at just €5,000.

3. Cartier Santos

At first glance, the Cartier Santos on our list might seem like a rather unusual candidate for the title of "alternative to the Datejust." Yet, thanks to its uniqueness, it's a more than adequate alternative. With its iconic, unique design, it holds its own very well. Add to that a long history that stretches back to 1904 – long before the Datejust debuted on the market. With the Santos, Cartier has created a watch that can be used as both a sports and a dress watch.

The rectangular case and its contrasting rounded corners are a feast for the eyes. The dial features Roman numerals, blending modernity and classicism in its design. Combined with the truly unique metal bracelet, the Cartier Santos is highly recognizable – and not just among watch connoisseurs. This icon can be purchased for around €7,500, but it's admittedly worth it if you're a fan of delicate wristwatches that still exude a rough, industrial charm that hints at their long history.
