watch care
Valuable tips for proper storage and care of your watch
Your watch should be cared for regularly and stored carefully to ensure you can enjoy your timepiece for a long time. To ensure the shine and perfect surface finish of your watch case are maintained, do not wear a bracelet or chain on the same wrist as your watch. Please note that both mechanical and quartz watches are sensitive to strong temperature changes - avoid these as much as possible. Do not expose your watch to extreme temperatures (above 60°C/140°F or below 0°C/32°F). This could reduce the battery life. It could also impair the liquidity/viscosity of the lubricant. We also recommend that you do not wear your watch while playing sports such as tennis, golf, or mountain biking to protect the watch from shocks that could damage the movement.
Watch storage
Of course, a watch isn't just a collector's item or an investment, but also a useful item. However, proper storage is essential for the preservation and longevity of your watch. You should also protect your watch from excessive sunlight and light, and store it in a dry, low-humidity environment. We recommend that our customers store their watches in a suitable watch box or storage case. If the watch isn't worn for an extended period, a watch winder is recommended to keep the automatic movement running. If you're interested in a watch winder, you'll find the right device for your timepiece under the Watch Winders section.
cleaning
Light soiling can be removed with a damp cloth on a watch that's water-resistant to at least 3 bar ~ 30 m. Never use cleaning agents, as these could damage the case back and crown. This could also damage the watch's sealing rings. We generally recommend cleaning only with a dry cloth and brush to remove dust particles.
maintenance
A watch is a delicate object that requires special care and attention. To maintain your watch's original shine, we recommend regular maintenance every six to ten years. During a proper service or overhaul of your watch, the movement is removed from the case, disassembled, cleaned, and professionally oiled with lubricants specially formulated for watches. This also includes a cosmetic refurbishment of your watch and watch strap. Under the "Watch Service" section, you will find all further information about our services, including overhauls, maintenance, certification, and polishing of your watch.
stainless steel bracelet
Except for an occasional light brushing (ideally at the end of summer), a metal bracelet requires no special care. Use a soft brush to remove any dust particles and grains of sand that may be trapped in the bracelet's links. Your bracelet can be reconditioned or polished by an expert. We would be happy to assist you with this.
rubber strap
We recommend avoiding contact with fatty or acidic substances, as well as cosmetics. Furthermore, you should not expose the strap to heat or UV rays for extended periods. UV rays, in particular, can damage the material. A natural rubber strap can be kept in good condition by simply cleaning it with soapy water and then rinsing it with fresh (non-limescale) water.
leather bracelet
We recommend avoiding contact with fatty or acidic substances and cosmetics. Furthermore, you should not expose the strap to heat or UV rays for extended periods. UV rays, in particular, can damage the material and, for example, cause the strap's color to change. We therefore recommend using only leather care products for watches to clean or polish your leather strap. Especially in summer, the leather strap is exposed to external friction. During this time, we recommend replacing the strap with a rubber strap or a metal bracelet that matches your watch model, if available.
