History of the Aqua Terra

The first Seamaster of 1948 was not a diver's watch but a robust, water-resistant watch for everyday life. Omega took up this idea again in the early 2000s with the Aqua Terra. It dispenses with the rotating bezel of diver's watches and relies on a simple case with a polished bezel. In 2017 Omega thoroughly revised the line, and since then the grooves on the dial have run horizontally instead of vertically.

Teak dial and colours

The grooves on the dial recall the wooden decks of classic sailing yachts and make the Aqua Terra recognisable at first glance. Alongside silver and black, the blue dials are particularly popular, joined by green dials and other colours. The Aqua Terra Shades series brings soft pastel tones to the line, matched to the dial and rubber strap.

Master Chronometer and antimagnetism

The current automatic models use Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibres tested by the Swiss institute METAS. They withstand magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss, such as those emitted in everyday life by laptops, speakers or magnetic clasps. Omega achieves this with non-magnetic components in the movement itself, which is why many models can have a transparent caseback. Most models offer a power reserve of around 60 hours.

Sizes from 28 to 43 mm

The Aqua Terra covers an unusually wide range of sizes. At 41 mm it is the classic men's size, while 38 and 34 mm suit slimmer wrists and work well as unisex watches. Smaller models with 28 and 30 mm can be found among the Aqua Terra ladies' watches, some with quartz movements. For travellers there is the Aqua Terra with GMT function and the 43 mm Worldtimer, which shows all 24 time zones at a glance.
