NORQAIN

NORQAIN was founded in 2018 by Ben Küffer in Nidau, Switzerland, and remains family-owned to this day. The brand focuses on robust sports watches with Swiss movements, COSC certification and a design language of its own that deliberately sets itself apart from classical watchmaking. Some of the calibres are made by Kenissi, the manufacture that also produces for Tudor and Chanel. With NORTEQ, NORQAIN has additionally developed its own case material, which is lighter than titanium and considerably more shock-resistant than steel.

An overview of the NORQAIN collections

The range is divided into four lines. The Independence stands for the house's classically proportioned sports watch, mostly with a skeletonised dial and cases between 39 and 42 millimetres. The Wild ONE is the technical flagship, with a NORTEQ case, a shock-absorbing system and water resistance to 200 metres. The Adventure is the outdoor line and, alongside the Adventure Sport, also includes the NEVEREST models, created in collaboration with the mountaineer Kenton Cool. The Freedom takes up the design language of the vintage sports watch and, in the Freedom 60, carries the in-house calibres NN20/1 and NN20/2.

What defines NORTEQ

NORTEQ is a carbon-fibre composite material formed in a multi-stage process under pressure and heat. A case made from this material weighs around a third of a comparable steel version and absorbs impacts instead of passing them on to the movement. Inside sits a container of sandblasted titanium that holds the calibre. Because of the fibre structure, every case has a pattern of its own, so no two watches ever look identical.

Movements and features

NORQAIN uses mechanical automatic movements exclusively. Depending on the version, the calibres of the NN series achieve 41 to 70 hours of power reserve and run at 28,800 vibrations per hour; a large proportion of the models are certified as chronometers by COSC. Sapphire crystal is standard, as are the screw-down crown and the display back. On the left-hand side of the case, every watch carries the NORQAIN Plate, a plate that can be fitted with a personal engraving.

How much does a NORQAIN cost?

The current price range can be found in the price overview on this page.

Who is behind NORQAIN?

NORQAIN is an independent Swiss brand founded in 2018 by Ben Küffer and is family-owned. This makes it one of the few young houses that have asserted themselves independently in a market dominated by large corporations.

Which plants does NORQAIN use?

In addition to purchased Swiss calibers, NORQAIN relies on exclusively developed movements from the collaboration with the movement manufacturer Kenissi. These calibers are chronometer-certified and have a power reserve of around 70 hours.

Are the NORQAIN watches at HORANDO new and original?

Yes. Each new watch is unworn and comes with box, papers and the full manufacturer's warranty. Before shipping, we look at each watch again, check the reference and serial number and pack it neatly.

Can I pay for a NORQAIN in installments?

Yes. Payment in installments of up to 5,000 euros is possible via PayPal, and up to 10,000 euros via Klarna.
