The success of the Rolex company is based on its founder Hans Wilsdorf. In 1905, he founded a company in London that specialized in selling watches. During this time, Wilsdorf dreamed of wearing reliable watches on his wrist. At that time, wristwatches did not yet have the precision that they have today. However, Hans Wilsdorf was convinced that one day they would not only impress with their elegance, but also with the highest level of accuracy. In the beginning, Rolex was particularly keen to produce watch movements of excellent quality. The effort put into chronometric precision was soon rewarded - in 1910, Rolex received the first official chronometer certificate for wristwatches from the Swiss 'Testing Authority for Watch Performance Controls' in Biel.
