The Explorer II from Rolex was launched in 1971 as a watch for cave explorers and polar expeditions. Its hallmark is the additional orange 24-hour hand, which together with the fixed 24-hour bezel makes it possible to tell day from night even without daylight. At the same time it can be used to read a second time zone. New watches are unworn and come with box, papers and the international Rolex warranty, while inspected Certified Pre-Owned models are labelled as such. Explorer II at 42 millimetres

The current generation measures 42 millimetres and is powered by the calibre 3285 with around 70 hours of power reserve. It is available with a black dial or with a white dial that collectors call Polar. The Oystersteel case is water-resistant to 100 metres, and the watch is worn on the Oyster bracelet.

Previous models and Explorer I

Among the second-hand models you will also find older generations, for example at 40 millimetres with the calibre 3185. They are slightly more compact and particularly interesting for many collectors. If you are looking for a simpler watch without date and second time zone, you will find it in the Explorer.
