Rolex Batman, Batgirl and Bruce Wayne: The GMT-Master II Variants Compared

Three nicknames, one model line: Batman, Batgirl and Bruce Wayne are variants of the Rolex GMT-Master II in steel. They share the case, dial and movement – and differ in exactly two things: the colour of the bezel and the bracelet. Because Rolex itself uses none of these names, things often get mixed up in everyday use. Here we assign the references clearly and show which variant suits whom.
The Key Points at a Glance
-
Batman is the name of the GMT-Master II with a blue and black bezel on the Oyster bracelet – first the 116710BLNR from 2013, since 2021 the 126710BLNR-0003.
-
Batgirl is the same bezel on the five-link Jubilee bracelet: The 126710BLNR-0002 from 2019.
-
Bruce Wayne is the version with a grey and black bezel, reference 126710GRNR, presented in 2024.
-
All current models measure 40 mm, have the calibre 3285 with a power reserve of around 70 hours and cost 11,550 euros according to the price list (Jubilee bracelet, Germany, since 1 January 2026).
Where the Nicknames Come From
The names come from the collector scene. Blue and black are the colours of the comic hero Batman – when Rolex showed the first GMT-Master II with a blue and black bezel in 2013, the name was quickly found. With the switch to the finer Jubilee bracelet in 2019, the new version needed a name of its own: Batman became Batgirl. The grey and black variant from 2024 was named after Batman's civilian identity: Bruce Wayne – more muted, more understated, but recognisably from the same family.
Nicknames have a long tradition at Rolex. We explain why the brand itself never speaks of Pepsi, Batman or Bruce Wayne in our Knowledge Thursday on Rolex nicknames.
Batman: 116710BLNR and 126710BLNR-0003
The 116710BLNR was a small sensation in 2013. It had the first two-tone bezel made of Cerachrom, i.e. ceramic. Rolex had worked for a long time on cleanly separating two colours within a single ceramic part. It was powered by the calibre 3186 with a power reserve of around 48 hours and worn on the three-link Oyster bracelet. It was discontinued in 2019.
In 2021 Rolex brought the blue and black bezel back to the Oyster bracelet – as the 126710BLNR-0003 with the newer calibre 3285. For many collectors, this is today's Batman. Visually, it differs from the old reference mainly by a small Rolex crown between “Swiss” and “Made” at 6 o'clock. Our GMT-Master II Batman is exactly this version and costs 16,490 euros at HORANDO.
Batgirl: 126710BLNR-0002 on the Jubilee Bracelet
The Batgirl arrived in 2019 as the successor to the 116710BLNR. Bezel and dial remained almost the same; new were the calibre 3285 and the Jubilee bracelet with its five rows of links. It looks finer, sits more softly on the wrist and makes the watch somewhat more elegant. The name has nothing to do with a “ladies' watch”: Case and diameter are identical to the Batman.
We offer the GMT-Master II Batgirl (reference 126710BLNR-0002) for 17,990 euros, around 56 per cent above the list price.

Bruce Wayne: 126710GRNR with a Grey and Black Bezel
At Watches & Wonders 2024, Rolex presented the 126710GRNR. The bezel is half grey, half black. This looks calmer than the vivid blue of the Batman and therefore also goes well with a suit. The crown sits on the right as usual, and the movement is again the calibre 3285. Rolex offers the Bruce Wayne on both the Oyster and the Jubilee bracelet.
Our GMT-Master II Bruce Wayne starts at 18,290 euros.

Shared Technology: The Calibre 3285
All three current variants are powered by the in-house calibre 3285. It features Rolex's Chronergy escapement, a Parachrom hairspring made of an alloy resistant to magnetic fields and a power reserve of around 70 hours. As on every GMT-Master II, an additional 24-hour hand combined with the rotating bezel displays a second time zone. When travelling, the hour hand can be adjusted separately in one-hour steps without stopping the watch. The Oystersteel case measures 40 mm and is water-resistant to 100 metres.

Which Variant Suits Whom?
-
Batman on the Oyster bracelet is the sportiest choice: Robust, brushed, uncomplicated in everyday life. If you travel a lot and want a watch you do not have to treat gently, this is the right one.
-
Batgirl on the Jubilee bracelet looks finer and reflects more light through the polished centre links. It goes with a shirt just as well as with the weekend.
-
Bruce Wayne is the most understated of the three. The grey takes away the bezel's signal effect without hiding the GMT function – for anyone who finds blue too loud.
If you are looking for a two-tone bezel in red and blue, you will find it on the GMT-Master II Pepsi. All currently available models are in our Rolex GMT-Master II collection.
