Cartier - luxury group with a long history

The French company Cartier is part of a renowned jewelry and watch company. The foundation stone for the luxury goods group was laid in 1847, after Louis-Francois Cartier took over the jewelry workshop in Paris. Marked by a successful history, Cartier grew rapidly and expanded the production of specially made watches. Due to changes in other company structures, a Cartier branch was opened in London in 1904 in addition to the main branch. Expansion to Russia and America followed, so that Cartier also became increasingly well-known internationally.

The Origins of the Wristwatch

The Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont, who went down in history as an inventor and perfectionist of aircraft, expressed the wish to be able to read the time comfortably from his wrist. His friend Louis Cartier implemented the vision of the watch on the wrist and invented the mother of all wristwatches. From then on, people could now read the time comfortably from their wrist without having to dig their pocket watch out of their pocket.
