The Fall Trends 2019
It's that time of year again, and summer 2019 is drawing to a close. But there's no reason to be sad. Besides the fact that you'll soon no longer have to fear sweat marks under your watch, watch fans are eagerly awaiting the answer to the question: What should you wear on your wrist this fall? We'll break down the current trends and reveal what you can wear next season.
Less is more
This year, it's better to avoid too many bright colors and accents. Instead, simplicity is increasingly taking over. Classic and tried-and-tested materials such as leather and stainless steel are being used, the latter often in a thinner form for extra-slender bracelets. These so-called mesh straps are extremely popular, especially for women, and at the same time practical, as they can be freely adjusted from very tight to very loose. This ensures the watch fits perfectly. The classic IWC Portofino Automatic with a matching silver strap is a true all-rounder that never goes out of style. With a white or black dial, every woman will find her favorite – or she can opt for the extra feminine Moonphase version in rose gold with a moon display and stone-studded bezel.

Dials also tend to be flat and elegant. But don't worry, those who prefer something a little "thicker" won't be left out: Chronographs are also ideal companions for this autumn and are available in a wide variety of versions. In terms of color schemes, tone-on-tone looks in chic black are in. The ultimate in this season's style is the "little black dress" for the wrist. Our suggestion: Take a look at the new Rolex Yacht-Master 42. With its black ceramic bezel and athletic black rubber Oysterflex strap, this timepiece is sure to be a winner this coming season. And the Tudor Fastrider Black Shield, with its black ceramic bezel combined with a black dial and a matching strap, is also a real feast for the eyes. The sporty lines and matte finish exude pure masculinity.

In contrast to the all-black look, however, colors are also trending. Shades of red, blue, and brown are setting the tone, often in the form of dial colors or interchangeable straps for ever-changing color combinations. Tudor hasn't missed this: The Black Bay collection fits perfectly into this category. The models are available in various red and blue finishes, among others, and so many straps that you'll probably find it difficult to choose just one. The version with a black dial, red bezel, and brown leather strap with a used look is hard to beat in terms of coolness!

Blue, blue, blue are… all new watches?
If one had to choose a "color of the season," however, blue would win. This year, no one can avoid this color scheme: a dark shade reminiscent of the deep sea is being celebrated as the new black. And who could blame them? Blue stands out more and, compared to other colors, appears more sophisticated and always appropriate. The color can be worn with both a casual look and a fine suit and can always be effortlessly complemented with other accessories. The prime example here is the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Milgauss. The dial glows in a unique tone through the green sapphire crystal. The timepiece was specially developed for engineers and technicians exposed to electromagnetic waves. It can withstand up to 1,000 gauss and is water-resistant to a depth of 100 meters – a truly solid companion.

You can't do without black? Take a look at the new edition of the Rolex GMT-Master II with Jubilee bracelet. The blue and black bezel of this popular time-zone watch is a real eye-catcher, stylishly combining both tones. The Master Ultra Thin Moon Enamel from Jaeger-LeCoultre also impresses with its sleek design and combination of black and blue. The moon phase display with a polished new moon against a starry sky is a detail for watch lovers with particularly high standards. The blue enamel dial with guilloché decoration is the result of dedicated handcrafting – but those who want to get their hands on it should act quickly, as only 100 pieces of this masterpiece are available. Another attractive and more affordable alternative is the Portugieser Chronograph Edition "150 Years" from IWC Schaffhausen. This elegant and understated watch features a radiant blue dial combined with a black strap made of the finest alligator leather – and will literally hit the mark this fall. The robust chronograph movement in classic column wheel design consists of 194 individual parts – it is the embodiment of exquisite watchmaking craftsmanship.

The new blue is currently often accentuated with a striking orange. It's important to play with contrast only in moderation – or to go all out. Our more understated trend favorites come from Nomos Glashütte: The Ahoi Atlantik Date, with its dial in radiant Atlantic blue and blue-black textile strap, invites you to dream – and then make it come true. The timepiece, with its gold hour and minute hands and bright orange second hand, creates a modern and dynamic feel – while simultaneously appearing mature and stylish.

But the Autobahn Neomatik 41 Date Night Blue model also definitely makes a statement. The dial, with its understated yet effective contrasts and a ring of luminescent Superluminova fields, makes this timepiece a very special companion – especially for trend-conscious car fans. Are you bold and adventurous and not afraid to stand out from the crowd? Then the Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue series is just the thing. The dial features a mix of opal and blue, as well as meticulous attention to detail. The craftsmanship behind this treasure is immediately apparent. The many small, refined elements and refreshing orange contrasts exude modernity and tradition at the same time. This is no surprise, considering that the Heritage line has set itself the task of preserving the brand's past while simultaneously pursuing modernization. It has certainly succeeded here. The Heritage Chrono Blue is a homage to the Oysterdate Chronograph from the 1970s. It is available with a classic stainless steel bracelet or a tricolor textile strap.
From old to new
In 2019, it's not just the fashion world that's celebrating the retro look; retro-designed watches are also still a hit. Popular models from the past are often unearthed or reissued – and usually enjoy a successful revival. This year, Omega brought back the caliber 321, which powered astronaut Ed White's Speedmaster during the first American spacewalk over 50 years ago. To mark this anniversary, the company has now launched the first Speedmaster Moonwatch in platinum. This beautiful, complex watch, with real lunar meteorite discs on the subdials, is a truly astonishing example. The chronograph combines a graduated black onyx dial with a white gold case and a sophisticated black leather strap. This gives Omega full marks for the coming season.

TAG Heuer also shines with the reissue of a legendary classic: The popular Autavia from the 1960s is making a comeback in 2019. The 42mm wide stainless steel case with its slim bezel will delight any retro fan and fits perfectly into the current trend for simplicity. Push buttons on the underside of the case also ensure that the strap can be quickly and easily replaced, making this model a versatile addition to any style. Aviator and pilot watches also remain on trend.

It's no wonder when you consider the many advantages of these models: Robust, simple, and precise, they convey to the wearer (and all admirers) a premium retro charm paired with an incomparable sense of freedom. The distance is calling! With the Navitimer Ref. 806, Breitling has reintroduced a premium pilot's watch and done everything right. Only minor changes were made to the original from 1959—the charm of the classic has been fully preserved. Whatever watch you choose this fall—with this new trend knowledge, you're sure to make an impression and be perfectly prepared for upcoming decisions when it comes to the world of watches.
