Visually, the Longines Moonphase is inspired by the tradition of elegant dress watches. The case shape is round, the bezel is finely crafted, and the dial is structured and features classic elements such as applied indices, Roman numerals, or a railway minute track—depending on the model. The moon phase display is usually positioned at 6 o'clock and is often combined with a date display, thus harmonizing function and aesthetics.

The case typically measures 40 or 42 mm and is made of polished stainless steel. It remains flat enough to be worn comfortably even under a shirt cuff. Sapphire crystal on the front and back, as well as a finely crafted display case back, make the Moonphase a true craftsmanship experience. The moon phase display itself is detailed—with a gold-plated or silver moon on a deep blue background, matching the dial color.

The watch is available with either a leather or stainless steel strap. Mechanical movement with complication and character

Depending on the model, a modified ETA automatic caliber—usually the L899 or L888 with a moon phase module—works inside. The power reserve is approximately 64 hours, and the clock frequency is 25,200 vibrations per hour. The movements are robust, precise, and in many cases COSC-certified. The moon phase display can be adjusted using a side pusher or directly via the crown, depending on the caliber.

Winding is automatic or manual. Thanks to a bidirectional rotor, the watch remains reliably running, even with occasional wear. The transparent case back reveals classic decorations such as perlage, blued screws, and the engraved Longines rotor – a harmonious blend of technology and design.
