The Story of the Rolex Submariner Smurf – The First Submariner in White Gold

Introduced in 2008 with the reference 116619LB, the Rolex Submariner Smurf was the first Submariner made entirely of 18-karat white gold. With its striking blue dial and matching blue Cerachrom bezel, it stood out from the classic stainless steel versions and set new standards in the combination of luxury and functionality.

Although originally designed as a professional diver's watch, the Smurf quickly became a sought-after collector's item, impressing with both its fine materials and technical sophistication. Production was discontinued in 2020, and the Ref. 126619LB was introduced as its successor. This retained the white gold case and blue bezel but featured a black dial, making the Smurf even more desirable with its unique color scheme.

Rolex Submariner 116619LB (2008 – 2020):The first Submariner in white gold with a 40mm case, blue dial, and blue Cerachrom ceramic bezel. Powered by the Rolex Caliber 3135 with approximately 48 hours of power reserve.

Rolex Submariner 126619LB (since 2020):Successor with a larger 41mm case, the same blue bezel, but now with a black dial. Equipped with the modern caliber 3235, which offers an improved power reserve of 70 hours.
