Luxury watches by Vacheron Constantin
The Maltese cross has been the emblem of Vacheron Constantin since 1880 and was patented at that time. Ever since, special creations have been brought to market again and again; at present seven collections of Vacheron Constantin watch models are available. One quite exceptional piece is the watch "Die Komplexität", which was made for King Farouk of Egypt over a period of five years. Tradition and modernity are united in the luxury watches of Vacheron Constantin; they are popular as collector's items, as the editions of the individual watches are strictly limited.
The various collections of the watch brand
The Overseas collection combines a sporting character with sophisticated technical equipment; stylish elegance, by contrast, is embodied by the Patrimony line. Here slim cases are the hallmark, and miniaturisation can only be applied as in the case of the perpetual calendar. The calibre 1120 QP, developed and manufactured by Vacheron Constantin in its new version. As a QP the luxury watch stands only four millimetres high and nevertheless displays the complete leap-year cycle. A correction will not be required until March 2100. The Geneva Seal as a mark of quality distinguishes this self-winding movement, which is fitted with a balance oscillating at 19,800 semi-oscillations per hour. The power reserve of this luxury watch is 40 hours. The entire marvel of engineering has been made visible through a sapphire-crystal case back. The collections Patrimony, 1972, Malte, Overseas, Historiques and Métiers d'Art, and also the Quai de l'Île collection, carry within them the result of the highest watchmaking craftsmanship.
Anniversary watches and further models
For the 250th anniversary in 2005, Vacheron Constantin presented the Tour de l'Île wristwatch. What makes this watch special are its 16 complications and its 834 components. It is limited to just seven pieces. Further well-known luxury watches from Vacheron Constantin are the reference 4261, the Kallista and the Ultra-Plate. The Kallista ranks among the most expensive wristwatches in the world. With every creation, the house of Vacheron Constantin and its luxury watches stands for tradition and quality. The Patrimony case is always made of platinum or gold; the case measures 41 millimetres across and 8.9 millimetres in height. A silvered dial, shown to advantage beneath sapphire crystal, is richly appointed: above the "6", the moon phase can be read against a blue sky aperture. The day of the week and the date face each other at "9" and "3", and at "12" the months can be read off a 48-month scale. The refined golden tone of the watch is matched by a brown alligator leather strap with a gold clasp. The brand's watches are not only sought-after collector's items; they also skilfully complement a business outfit or an elegant appearance.
