Since a lunar month does not last 30 but 29.5 days, it is extremely difficult to measure, at least for a standard movement. Not for Omega's Moonphase. The extremely precise mechanism of the Omega watches also applies to the measurement of the moon phases, because here it is sufficient to reset every 10 years, otherwise the movement runs exactly. But also the design is remarkable (e.g. reference 304.23.44.52.13.001). The stainless steel models have a detailed image of the moon, which is based on the extraordinary microstructuring on the metallic crystal disc. Those who take a very close look will even recognize the famous footprint of astronaut Neil Armstrong.
The fascinating movement
Driven by Co-Axial Master Chronometer calibres 9904 or 9905, each composed of 368 parts, METAS recognized them as Master Chronometers. The well-known precision of Omega timepieces does not disappoint this time either: the Co-Axial Master Chronometer movements are without doubt the best of today's watchmaking art.
The moon phase has other attractive properties. Its striking colours, from opalised silver, black and blue to sunburst grey, together with various ceramic bezel options and elegant stainless steel or 18K gold cases, give the watch a classic look you can't resist.
