The ETA company was originally founded by Eterna and is part of the Swatch Group. It manufactures watch movements for various watch manufacturers on the market. The offerings are extremely diverse. From the simplest models to luxury models, everything is available here. Above all, it is the great design and high product quality that guarantee a long service life and thus make these products so extremely popular.

Before this company decided to produce its own calibers, it purchased calibers from third-party suppliers. These movements always require the very highest quality and are of the highest caliber. Therefore, only a few of the available calibers are used in smaller, inexpensive watches. In any case, this is a true example of craftsmanship. Through the production of these movements, a piece of the analogue era lives on into the future. Strictly speaking, one could always tell the time from digital devices. But anyone who loves their watch and doesn't want to settle for a simple model will certainly opt for a version that uses movements from ETA. Potential defects are already prevented through meticulous handcrafting. It is not without reason that ETA can be considered the market leader in this field.

The ETA 2824 model – attractive and powerful

The so-called 2824 series has been in production since 1982 and is one of the most popular models due to its incredible performance. Good quality doesn't have to be expensive, either, as the ETA 2824 is made of very inexpensive materials that are also very easy to obtain.

Due to its enormous success, this model has been repeatedly imitated, especially by Swiss manufacturers. The SW200 model is particularly well-known and also in high demand.

ETA 2892 – modern luxury quality of the highest class

The ETA 2892 model is particularly similar to the ETA 2824 and is also very widely used. However, the design is somewhat flatter. This model is primarily used for complication watches or flagship models in the mid- to high-end price segments. ETA 2892 models are always very compact, yet are enhanced with simple program wheels and cadratures.

ETA 2892-A2 – a meaningful and energetic development

The ETA 2892-A2 watch movement has been in use for many decades and has enjoyed exceptional popularity ever since. Particularly expensive watch models, such as Breitling and Omega, are equipped with this movement. This automatic movement has a balance frequency of 28,800 A/h. It also consists of 21 jewels and a power reserve of 42 hours.

ETA 7750 impresses all along the line

This technological marvel is not modular like the ETA 2892 model, but is a true chronograph caliber. Since 1973, this high-quality construction has served as an important foundation for many watch models, guaranteeing excellent quality. This movement is also known as the Valjoux 7750. Valjoux is now an integral part of the Swatch Group. This model is available in numerous versions.

The ETA 7750 not only offers a chronograph function, but also a display for the current day of the week and date. If you opt for the 7751 model, you can also read the month and moon phase. The ETA 7750 is one of the most reliable watch movements available. It is primarily used in watches with a retail value of over €1,000.

However, a decorated version of the ETA 7750 is still available on the market. The so-called IWC caliber 79320 is primarily used in pilot's watches. However, it can also be found in smaller wristwatches.

The advantages of ETA movements

ETA watch movements are true masterpieces, lovingly crafted with precision by hand. First and foremost, every buyer who supports this manufacturer keeps a piece of history alive, as digitalization continues to advance, making it difficult for traditional watchmaking to survive. ETA's success is primarily due to its constant success in developing its production processes and adding many important functions to its movements that meet today's requirements.

Today, people might not just want to read the time on their wristwatch, but also enjoy many other benefits. If you go jogging, you want to be able to track your progress. Parameters such as breathing rate, heart rate, individual steps, and distance traveled can be particularly important information. High-quality watches must also be produced for pilots and divers. This manufacturer is doing the right preparatory work in this area.

ETA movements are used in many high-quality watches with a distinctive design. It's not just about outstanding technical quality, but also about combining it with an attractive watch.

Ultimately, it all comes down to a perfect fit. If you want to purchase a watch that boasts many high-quality technical features, you also want it to have a great visual appearance.

Today, it's often no longer worth it to have a watch repaired. The idea of throwing something away, which is constantly associated with a new purchase, is also quite common with jewelry, and especially with watches.

However, if you choose a watch equipped with an ETA movement, a repair may still be worthwhile. This is because spare parts are readily available at reasonable prices. This allows you to fully benefit from excellent service.

In addition, you can also practice sustainability a little bit, because the longer you wear a watch, the less often you need a new one, and thus produce significantly less waste. This concept is therefore considered holistic and extremely valuable.

Are there any possible disadvantages?

Actually, there are no disadvantages to be found, as a movement from this company is simply excellent, in every respect. The only possible drawback is that production is quite expensive, which tends to increase the price of a watch equipped with such a movement. But quality has its price.
