      The history of the Rolex Submariner Date – A classic with practical function

      The Rolex Submariner was introduced in 1953 as the first diver's watch with water resistance to 100 meters. While the original models didn't have a date, Rolex introduced the first Submariner with a date display in 1969 with the reference 1680. This innovation made the watch even more practical not only for divers but also for everyday use.

      A distinctive feature of the Submariner Date is the Cyclops magnifying glass, which has made reading the date easier since its introduction. The model has undergone continuous development over the decades. Caliber 3135 was introduced in 1988 with the reference 16610, and in 2010, Rolex introduced a Cerachrom ceramic bezel for the first time with the reference 116610LN. Since 2020, the Submariner Date has been produced with the reference 126610LN, which features a 41 mm case and the caliber 3235 with a 70-hour power reserve.

      The Rolex Submariner Date combines its iconic design with cutting-edge technology. The 41 mm Oystersteel case is extremely durable and offers protection against corrosion. The rotating Cerachrom ceramic bezel with an engraved diving scale enables precise timekeeping underwater.

      The dial, with large hour markers and Chromalight luminous material, ensures optimal legibility, even in dark environments. The Caliber 3235, a high-precision automatic movement with chronometer certification, offers a power reserve of up to 70 hours. Thanks to the screw-down crown and Triplock system, the Submariner Date is water-resistant to 300 meters.
