History of Tudor

The Tudor name was registered in 1926 on behalf of Hans Wilsdorf, and in 1946 he founded Montres Tudor SA. The early models used the Rolex Oyster case and proved themselves with navies and expeditions, such as the British North Greenland Expedition in the 1950s. Since 2015 Tudor has developed its own calibres, which now power most of the collection.

The Black Bay

The Black Bay is Tudor's best-known line. It appeared in 2012 and takes up the brand's diver's watches from the 1950s, with a large crown and angular snowflake hands. Today it is available as the Black Bay 58, Black Bay GMT and Black Bay Chrono as well as in more classic versions with a fixed bezel from 31 to 41 mm.

Pelagos, Ranger, Royal and 1926

The Pelagos is the professional titanium diver's watch, water-resistant to 500 metres. The Ranger is a simple field and adventure watch, the Tudor Royal an elegant watch with integrated bracelet. The Tudor 1926 recalls the founding year and is aimed at anyone looking for a classic, understated watch.

In-house movements and warranty

Tudor's in-house calibres have around 70 hours of power reserve and a silicon balance spring and are certified as chronometers, some current models even to the stricter Master Chronometer standard. Tudor grants a five-year manufacturer's warranty without you having to register the watch.

Tudor or Rolex

Tudor shares its origins with Rolex but goes its own way. The watches are sportier in design, often take up details from the brand's history and cost considerably less. If you are looking for a mechanical sports watch with an in-house movement and a clear heritage, Tudor is an independent choice.
