Two faces – an expression of timeless aesthetics
The design of the Reverso Classic Small Duetto remains true to the classic Reverso style: a sleek, rectangular case with the characteristic longitudinal grooves, also known as "godrons," and the iconic reversible mechanism. However, while the front dial is designed in typical Classic style with Arabic numerals, vertical guilloché work, and blued hands, a second, completely distinct face is revealed when turned: elegant, often with a dark background, applied indices, or diamonds.
Both dials are powered by the same mechanical movement—a technical feat that allows two different time displays to be created without duplicating the mechanical components. The second side usually appears significantly more glamorous, making the duo effect particularly appealing for evening events or special occasions. With a flick of the wrist, the watch can be transformed from a discreetly classic companion to an elegant statement piece.
The case measures 34.2 × 21 mm and is crafted from stainless steel or rose gold. Its slim height of approximately 8.7 mm ensures a comfortable fit, even on delicate wrists. The design is complemented by an alligator leather strap or a delicate metal bracelet—color-coordinated with the dial, depending on the model.
Technically sophisticated – with manufacturing quality
Inside the Reverso Classic Small Duetto is a mechanical hand-wound movement – typically the caliber 844. It was specifically developed for the slim Reverso case format and drives both dials synchronously. Power is supplied exclusively by manually winding the crown, which not only provides a tactile experience but also underscores the connection to Jaeger-LeCoultre's historic watchmaking heritage.
Despite its small size, the movement offers a power reserve of up to 38 hours. The construction is designed so that even with frequent use of the reversing mechanism, its rate stability is not compromised. The movement's finishing meets the manufacturer's high standards – including beveled edges, decorated bridges, and finely regulated rate behavior.
The turning process itself is precise and pleasantly smooth. It impressively demonstrates how form and function merge into a harmonious whole in the Reverso—a technical signature that remains unique to this day.
Variants with double expression
The Reverso Classic Small Duetto is available in a variety of designs – with a stainless steel or gold case, and with a classic leather strap or a delicate metal bracelet. The front dials range in color from light silver to champagne, while the backs are often designed in rich black, blue, or with mother-of-pearl accents.
Some models feature diamonds on the second dial or along the bezel, further elevating the watch to a jewel-like appearance. This makes the Duetto not only a timepiece, but also an expression of personality, versatility, and style—a mechanical watch for women who want to showcase both sides.
