Tissot

Swiss watchmaking since 1853

Tissot was founded in 1853 by Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Émile in Le Locle, Switzerland, making it one of the oldest continuously producing Swiss watch brands. The family workshop grew into a house that embraced serial production early on and offered a pocket watch with two time zones as early as 1853. Since 1983 Tissot has been part of the Swatch Group and acts as official timekeeper of MotoGP, the NBA and numerous cycling events. The brand's ambition can be summed up in a single sentence: Swiss watches with robust engineering at a price that makes mechanical watchmaking accessible.

The Tissot collections at a glance

The range is divided into clearly separated lines. The PRX revisits the design of a 1978 quartz watch and combines a slim tonneau case with an integrated bracelet. The Le Locle stands for the classical side of the brand, with Roman numerals, a guilloché dial and a visible movement. The Gentleman is conceived as a watch for every occasion, while the Chemin des Tourelles pairs traditional design with modern automatic movements. On the sporting side stand the Seastar divers' watches, the MotoGP-inspired T-Race and the PR516 with its perforated bracelet. Finally, the T-Touch Connect Solar unites solar power, a touch sapphire crystal and connected functions in a Swiss case.

The Powermatic 80 movement

A large part of Tissot's mechanical models runs on the Powermatic 80. Fully wound, this automatic movement runs for up to 80 hours and therefore covers an entire weekend without the watch being worn. Many versions additionally use a Nivachron or silicon hairspring, which makes the movement less sensitive to magnetic fields and temperature changes. The range is completed by quartz movements, solar drives and, in individual models, by chronograph calibres and COSC-certified movements.
