Alpina Startimer

The new Alpina Startimer watch model is a chronograph that adds another timepiece of the highest precision to Alpina's traditionally crafted pilot's watches. The Startimer features a 'Bicompax' counter layout arranged vertically as well as a dial designed for the three different domains of flying (the naval aviators, the air force as well as bush flying). Alpina Startimer - an automatic chronograph in a class of its own

The Swiss automatic chronograph movement AL-725, which stands for excellent accuracy and reliability of Alpina's luxury watches, was chosen to power the Startimer. The new Alpina chronograph features the typical dial design that is characteristic of Alpina Pilot's Watches - but this time with a charming touch of vintage. Of course, the Startimer also features the red triangle at 12 o'clock that identifies the Alpina Startimer watch model as part of the Alpina collection. To ensure that you can read the time perfectly at all times, the manufacture has refrained from placing the small seconds at 9 o'clock on the Alpina Startimer model. This division ultimately creates the vertical 'Bicompax' counter layout. The Startimer features a 44 millimeter case, crafted with anti-reflective sapphire crystal and a more generous pilot screw-in crown. The Alpina Startimer is also water resistant to a maximum of 100 meters. The case back of the chronograph bears the emblem of the Startimer series as a filigree engraving.

Origin of luxury watches from Alpina

The Alpina brand has its origins in Winterthur/Switzerland where Gottlieb Hauser founded the company in 1883 as 'Corporation d'Horlogers Suisse'. In order to secure a more central location for the watch manufacture, the company headquarters were moved to Biel/Switzerland in 1890. In 1901, the company's own watch designs appeared. At the same time, the Alpina brand was patented. From the beginning until about the middle of the 20th century, the watch manufacturer Alpina was a proven Swiss brand, acting as an official supplier for the US 'Continental Air Force', among others. The pioneers of aviation at that time demanded the highest precision: their pilot watches or instruments had to be absolutely resistant to shocks and function extremely precisely. Alpina's luxury watch collections of the time were also mostly equipped with anti-magnetic cases, oversized luminous hands and indices, and high-contrast dials. The Startimer collection was introduced to the public in 2011 and has since become one of the most popular as well as professional series in the field of pilot watches.
