Mido - beauty by tradition
Mido is one of the traditional Swiss companies that have achieved today's status through precision, attractive appearance and innovation. The company was founded in 1918 and can therefore already look back on a history of more than a hundred years. Founder Georges Schaeren named his company after the Japanese slogan "Yo mido", which stands for "I measure". An extremely fitting name for a brand that wants to distinguish itself through high-precision wristwatches. From the very beginning, mido watches were characterized by a distinct elegance, both for ladies and gentlemen. But Schaeren did not only concentrate on the mere appearance. He is also inventive. In 1930, he began to equip his watches with the cork crown sealing system, which makes them particularly water-resistant. A real unique selling proposition on the watch market at that time. At the end of the 1950s, the company introduces the single-shell case, which is another milestone in water-resistant watches. At the end of the 1990s Mido experimented a lot. The Worldtimer and the Bodyguard were created. At the turn of the millennium, the company begins to return to its roots, creating unadorned and beautifully designed watches. In 2006, Mido launched a new collection of the model to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Baroncelli. To this day, this watch has retained its beauty and precision.
